✓ Cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, and pulled into Google AI Overviews
The challenge
Protecting a 30-year patient legacy while introducing a new owner
When the new owner bought this Florida practice from its retiring founder in the summer of 2025, he took over something valuable and something almost nonexistent at the same time.
The valuable part was three decades of patient trust, people who'd seen the same dentist for 30 and 40 years. The nonexistent part was everything online. The practice had no website, no domain name, no logo, and no brand. Search "dentist in DeLand" and it simply didn't appear: not in the Google map pack, not in the organic results, and not in the AI answers a growing share of patients now trust.
There's a second, quieter risk in every acquisition like this one. The patients who loved the founding dentist were wondering whether the new owner was someone they could trust with their family's care. So the work had to do two jobs at once: launch a credible brand and a complete digital presence from nothing, and carry the retiring dentist's equity forward instead of throwing it away.
The strategy
Four pillars, built in the right order
A brand identity from scratch
A new site on a new domain
Owning "dentist in DeLand"
Built to be cited by AI
The rebrand carried the trust forward
Been going here for 20 years and have always loved the original dentist! The new dentist is just as nice and is updating the office! The staff is the sweetest and always so helpful!
★★★★★Patient of 20 yearsGoogle review of the practiceI was a patient of the founding dentist for 40 years, so I was a bit nervous to meet the new guy. After my first appointment, I do like him, very competent and professional, with a good bedside manner. Highly recommended!
★★★★★Patient of 40 yearsGoogle review of the practiceHave been coming here over 30 years seeing the original dentist, who was awesome. However he recently retired, so now seeing the new owner, who is also excellent.

From 298 impressions to nearly 30,000 a month
In its first year, the new practice grew from 298 monthly search impressions to nearly 30,000, and from 2 monthly clicks to 244. Over the full year the site earned roughly 138,000 search impressions and more than 1,300 clicks, starting from a domain that didn't exist.
The results · Authority
Building enough local authority to compete from a brand-new domain
A brand-new domain starts with no history and no trust in Google's eyes. Through consistent citations, local links, and content, the practice grew from 7 referring domains to 202 in twelve months. That's a large part of why the site could climb for competitive local terms so quickly, and why it holds those positions now.
The results · Local rankings
The most visible dentist in its market
Twelve months after launch, the practice is tracked for 17 core local terms. Sixteen rank in Google's top 10 and eight in the top 3, at an average position of 4.2. That's a 41.3% search-visibility score, higher than every other tracked dental practice in the market.

732 tracked leads, and where they came from
Visibility only matters if it books appointments. In year one, call and form tracking recorded 732 patient leads, the large majority inbound phone calls. The single biggest driver was the optimized Google Business Profile, which alone accounted for roughly 80% of all tracked leads and grew from 15 monthly views at launch to more than 700.

Showing up where patients now ask
More patients are skipping the ten blue links and simply asking an AI which dentist to see. Because the site was built to be machine-readable, the practice is already named and cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude for high-intent local questions, at an overall GEO score of 76 out of 100.
Its pages are also pulled directly into Google's AI Overviews, the AI answer above the search results. For "gum disease treatment DeLand," "composite fillings DeLand," and "dental cleaning DeLand," a practice page is cited as a source inside the AI Overview at the top of page one.

How we measured the results
Every figure is pulled from live analytics platforms, not estimates. The measurement window is the practice's first year live, 7 August 2025 to 7 August 2026, unless noted. Sources: Google Search Console (impressions, clicks, positions), Ahrefs (referring domains), Semrush Position Tracking (local rankings and competitive visibility, DeLand FL), WhatConverts (call and form lead tracking), Google Business Profile Insights, Google Analytics 4 (3,630 sessions and 656 on-site conversions over the year), and Visby.ai plus Google AI Overviews for AI visibility, a July to August 2026 snapshot.
Monthly impression figures are whole-month Search Console values. Ranking counts reflect the 17-keyword Semrush campaign as of 7 August 2026. AI-visibility percentages are a point-in-time snapshot rather than a full-year trend. Lead counts are tracked patient contacts and include some repeat callers, so they aren't a count of unique new patients. Competitor visibility scores are shown unnamed, client details are anonymized at the practice's discretion, and there are no guarantees in SEO or AI search.
