How a Carlsbad Pediatric Practice Became the Local Choice Across Search, Maps, and AI

One of Southern California's most competitive pediatric markets. Across local SEO, the Google Business Profile, paid search and AI search, this practice now produces about 123 tracked patient leads a month and is the kids' dentist the assistants name first.

The challenge

A trusted practice that was not showing up when parents searched for care

Carlsbad is a crowded, expensive pediatric market. This practice had the clinical reputation and the reviews to win it, but average local map visibility and no meaningful presence in the AI answers parents increasingly ask before they ever open Google.

There was a second problem underneath the first. Nobody knew where the practice's patients were really coming from. Without call and form tracking to source, a practice can pour its budget into a website while two thirds of its demand walks in through the Google Business Profile.

So we covered every route a parent might take, and we measured all of them.

The strategy

A patient-acquisition system built around how parents actually choose

The Google profile as the primary channel

A fully built-out Business Profile: categories, services, questions and answers, photos and call tracking, with service-radius keyword mapping to widen how much of the local map the practice covers.

Content written for parent intent

Pediatric service pages for emergencies, sedation and special-needs care, a preventive-care hub, and the trust elements parents look for: provider bios, insurance and financing, and safety protocols.

Technical SEO cleanup

Crawl and index cleanup, Core Web Vitals work, and schema validation, so both search engines and AI assistants can read the site without tripping over it.

AI and GEO optimization

Direct-answer modules and FAQs built around what parents actually ask (first-visit age, injuries, Medicaid, special-needs care) structured so the assistants can extract the answer and cite the practice for it.

Google Ads as a supplement

Three tightly themed search campaigns covering pediatric dentistry, orthodontics and Invisalign, with call and form tracking to source, run to top up demand rather than to carry the practice.

Tracking across all of it

Every call, form and text captured and attributed, so the channel mix is measured rather than assumed and the budget follows what's actually producing patients.

The results · Channel mix

Most parents choose the practice directly from Google Maps

The reason this practice sees about 123 inquiries a month isn't one channel doing the heavy lifting. It's that every route a parent might take is covered, and each one is tracked to source. The split is the most useful thing on this page for any practice owner reading it.

The kids' dentist AI recommends in Carlsbad

In AI answers about Carlsbad pediatric dentists the practice leads on every measure: #1 share of voice at 11.2%, 45.5% of the decision-stage funnel, the most brand mentions at 156, and the most-cited website at 145 citations, with a GEO score of 89 out of 100.

The results · Local map

More than half the map, and 2,195 sets of directions

Local Pack coverage grew from 33.7% to 55.6%, so the practice now appears in more than half of the map results across its service area. Over the year the Business Profile produced 2,195 direction requests. A parent asking Google how to get there has already chosen.

The results · Paid search

Paid search used strategically to capture high-intent pediatric demand

Alongside the organic program we run three tightly themed search campaigns covering pediatric dentistry, orthodontics and Invisalign. Over twelve months they produced 149 tracked patient leads at $110.97 per lead, with the pediatric campaign carrying 94% of clicks at a 5.07% click-through rate.

Paid search is deliberately the smallest of the four channels here. It tops up demand at the moments parents are ready to book, rather than carrying a practice whose Business Profile already produces two thirds of its inquiries.

How we measured the results

Lead figures come from the Titan Web Agency lead-tracking dashboard for the trailing twelve months, 15 August 2025 to 14 August 2026, counting phone calls, form submissions and text messages attributed to source. Channel groupings combine related source tags: Google Business Profile aggregates all profile-tagged sources, and paid search covers Google Ads attributed leads.

Google Ads spend, clicks, click-through rate and cost per click come from the Google Ads account via Agency Analytics over the same period; cost per tracked paid lead works out to $110.97, reflecting a coastal Southern California auction where click prices run roughly double those of mid-size markets. AI-visibility figures are from Visby.ai for July to August 2026. Local Pack coverage is from local map-grid tracking, and Business Profile engagement is from Business Profile Insights.

Lead counts are tracked patient contacts rather than booked appointments, and include some repeat callers. There are no guarantees in SEO, paid-search performance varies with market and budget, and client details are anonymized at the practice's discretion.
