Not sure if you need a new website? You may if you are making one of these mistakes…
Technology is ever changing, new software becomes available every day, so how do you know when you need to redesign your website? Let’s look at a few signs that may suggest a new website would be beneficial to you.
1) Do you use flash?
If so, you need a redesign. I wrote about five reasons why flash websites suck, so I won’t go into that here. But if you use flash you definitely need to redesign your site, no questions about it.
2) Is it slow?
The speed of a website can definitely effect your search engine factors. If you site takes a long time to load, then your visitors will be more likely to leave without even looking at any pages. If your site is inherently slow, you should strongly consider redesigning.
3) Has your business evolved?
Is there content and functions and features that are on your site that just aren’t relevant anymore? I don’t a picture or page, but major pieces of your website. Has your business changed in what it does, what it offers, and how it operates? If so, it may be time to redesign your website.
4) When did you last redesign it?
Even if it was several years ago, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to redesign your website. While design treads have changed, if your website is converting as it is, I would recommend leaving it, or perhaps performing some split testing with a new design for some of your visitors. You don’t want to redesign just for the sake of it, you want to redesign if it will make your business more successful. But if you can’t remember the last time you had your website designed, that may indicate it is time to redesign it.
5) Is there broken coding?
Do you have parts of your website that don’t operate as they should? Do you have a bunch of broken links all over the place? While these fixes can be easy, the reason behind them may be the problem. It could be that the system you use to manage your website is so difficult that it is next to impossible for anybody but an incredibly advanced programmer to edit. With the new website programs these days such as WordPress, it is much, much easier to fix issues such as this.
6) How does it look on a smartphone?
Nearly 50% of internet browsing happens on a mobile device. The last thing you want is to lose somebody that specifically went to your site because they can’t read it or is it is slow, or the experience is bad. Consider a mobile site or a responsive site. I talked about mobile sites for small businesses earlier this month.
7) Does it properly portray your brand?
Do you offer a high end service, but your website is a do it yourself website? Does it look amateurish? Or are you a dentist office and your website has a grass background (don’t laugh I’ve seen it). If it doesn’t, or if you are embarrassed by it, you definitely need to have it professionally redesigned.
Don’t always take a web designers word for it, but consider these potential reasons why you need to redesign your site. If you are considering redesigning your site, Titan Web Agency can help.
