3 SEO Strategies to Improve Your Search Rankings
Here's three things you can do to improve your search engine rankings.
Surely you have heard of the saying: The only constant is change. Well that couldn't be more accurate when it comes to SEO, and Google's algorithm they use to determine search engine rankings. They do this to bring more relevant and accurate search results for us users. Those that 'cheat' or use blackhat methods are eventually punished and their rankings tank or worse, they are de indexed.

So, here are 3 tips to make sure you don't have that problem.
1. Publish Quality Content
As a small business owner I'm sure that one of your priorities is to provide a good user experience for your customers. Take this same mindset and apply it to your website for your business. Your content should first and foremost provide quality information, NOT be written for the search engines. That means, not keyword stuffed, not manipulated in a way to make you rank higher.
It's simple. When writing content for your website, write from your heart, and try to inform and provide good information. That's it. Don't think, Oh, I need to put this and that in for Google, or I need to rephrase this sentence and this sentence so Google likes it. Quality content is of the utmost importance.
2. Be unique
Don't copy content from other sites, and don't have multiple pages that are nearly identical on your website. Make sure you give customers a reason to pick up the phone and call you. Be a real person. Provide your USP, Unique Selling Proposition.
3. Obtain Quality Links
If you are doing the SEO yourself, don't assume that a link is a link. Links are still extremely important in SEO, but it is the high quality, highly relevant links that matter.
I performed an SEO analysis for a dentist the other day and he had tons of spammy links from places like Big 12 Forums, some Chinese forums, Spanish websites, and even porn website.
The customer had no idea. He had hired out to the lowest bidder for SEO, and thought he was getting a great deal. Little did he know that the company that he had spent 35 years building up was in jeopardy of being de-indexed by Google due to the mass, spammy links.
So, make sure as a small business owner that you are providing quality content for your traffic, and you build links cautiously. If you are looking for a company that specializes in SEO for small businesses, don't be fooled by cheap prices. Chances are they are cheap for a reason.
